Kahaluu Beach Park

If you are a rookie and planning to learn to surf then no other beach is better than Kahaluu Beach Park. An ancient Hawaiian breakwater protects one side of the park’s bay, providing a sense of belonging to the surfing’s roots in addition to an optimal environment. The beach gets mostly reef breaks.

Hanalei Beach Park

Hanalei Beach Park is also one of the best places to learn surfing in Hawaii. Since it is on the northwest shore, it does not get big winter waves or long dry summers. Besides the great weather, it also has a great sandy beach meaning you do not have to wear reef shoes. There are a lot of instructors out there ready to take your surfing to the next level.

Oahu

There are a lot of spots nearby the north shore of Oahu, where the breaks are very subtle and hence very suitable for beginners. Kawela bay is well known for consistent small and gentle waves. Similarly, Turtle Bay beach also has small to medium sized waves making it a great place for the starters. If you look, on the southern side of Oahu, Waikiki is a legendary place for newbies.
